Hi Currently my Xperia U has Build Number 6.0.B.3.184
And on connecting to my PC companion it shows an Update 6.1.1.B.1.10 is available.
I would like to know that, whether I can do it myself or need to carry it to a service centre.
I have not done this yet because I donno whether doing this myself may affect the phone warranty.
Thanks In advance
Regards

Yes you need to update the phone.
It will not void your warranty
No need to take rthe phone to service center
After updating do a factory reset for sure
NOTE: UPDATING WILL CAUSE YOUR PHONE TO BE SLOW AT TIMES AS THIS IS THE PROCESS AS IT TAKES TIME TO UPGRADE THE KERNEL AND OTHER STUFF AS YOU ARE TAKING A LEAP FROM GB TO ICS. DO A FACTORY RESET AND RESTART THE PHONE AT LEAST ONCE A DAY FOR A WEEK.
PS USE SONY UPDATE SERVICE TO UPDATE THE PHONE AND NOT PCC.

@jatinrungta
Thanks For the Info.
but one doubt is that... which is better to use :-
the 'update center' application in the phone?
or the downloaded SONY UPDATE SERVICE application in the PC?
Thanks in advance...
Both are different things
Use the update center in the phone if any pdate is available ( 1/10000 chance :smileysilly:)
Just use sus (SONY UPDATE SERVICE) for updating.
