Laptop VGN-B3VP not starting (seems to be booting problem?)

My laptop was working fine till yesterday evening. Today morning, when I tried starting the PC, it didnt start. Checked the power supply, was working fine. Removed the battery, inserted again and recharged, still wasn't working.

Is it a booting problem?

Guys/gals am not a technically sound person. Hence, if u can guide me with simple troubleshooting process, that'll be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Rajesh

Do any of the lights come on?

Does it start up if you take out the battery and just have the AC adaptor pluged in?

Its suprising how many times its a battery problem.

None of the lights come on.
Tried removing the battery and just starting it on AC adaptor, still it doesn't start :slight_frown:

When you say

My laptop was working fine till yesterday evening
were you using it on the AC adaptor or the battery?

Sounds to me like a power issue rather than a booting issue. It should at least show some sign of life. :slight_frown:

It was working on the battery. Hence, bit confused, what the problem could be :slight_frown:

Presumably the battery still has charge in it?

Did anything strange happen when you shut it down before it stopped working? Pop or anything like that?

Either the board is fried (Very unlikely) or there is some power issue with the reglator.

Very odd

No there was no issue or pop up when I shut it down late night yesterday. I didnt download any applications as well.
Am very much confused how to resolve this issue. You know how costly it is to get an engineer to have a look at it. Hence, trying to resolve it with help from experts like you.

I completely understand.

You would expect a bleep if there was something wrong with the hardware but you don't seem to get any power full stop.

Do you know anyone else with the same notebook so you can try a different battery?

If that doesn't work then you will have to send it to sony and see if they can find the problem and fix it. :slight_frown:

Thanks for the advice mate. Will try the option you suggested.

Alternatively, do you know any company who does this cheapely. Or any Sony Personnel?
