Hi, can you please help me? My Z3 Compact has just started displaying the notification bar by itself, I am trying to use my phone, type messages etc and it just keeps coming down which is making the phone unusable. I've tried re starting it, soft reset and safe mode, it just keeps doing it! Can anyone help please?

My phone started doing this, this morning. No signs of screen damage it has a screen protector on it. Was working fine last night just put it to charge this morning and now the notification bar wont stop dropping down.
Has anyone managed to fix this? Only had the phone around 3 months so would really rather repair then have to buy a new one....
Thanks
Just started happening to me today.
Been getting some odd behaviour before now (over last 24 hours or so) with some application soft keys not responding properly (the send button in whatsapp doesn't work sometimes and the delete key on my keyboard also doesn't work sometimes). I've used more than one keyboard but the google keyboard seems worst.
The notification & settings pull-down drawers just randomly triggering is the most recent odd behaviour from the screen.
I wondered whether it's a hardware issue - will be awful if it is, as my handset is just outside (literally by a month or two) of 2 years (the length of my contract).
Can't see any crack and I too have a screen protector.
Used the the touchscreen service test and no phantom responses and settings drawer only pulls down when I need it to.
Very odd.
Can't really see how it's software or else we'd have masses of posts here, I'd have thought. Posts are spread out over some time, so it's clearly not a single event. Am pretty loathe to wipe handset too, as that causes so much disruption, when trying to resume back to your previous configuration. Meh.
thanks,

thanks,
sadly I don't have a fix but the notification drawer isn't randomly triggering any more.
Using the service test for the touchscreen I can see that most of the top of my touch-screen is now dead (basically the thickness of the status bar at the top, where the clock and battery icons are). I can just get the notification drawer to pull down, from the very edges (sides) but everything else is kaput.
Clearly some kind of hardware failure.
new touchscreens aren't that expensive (maybe £30ish) but the cheaper ones 'appear' fragile and the actual installation is fiddly (you need to apply controlled heat to 'break' the seals of the phone AND it sounds, from guides, that you need to get the back off too, in order to access cabling, in order to free up the front screen, then of course reseal, etc). Grrrr. Might put it off.

Did you get any other solutions? I'm getting this now.
The top of my touchscreen is dead - I can't pull down at all with a gesture.
However, I did find some apps which trigger the notification drawer.
They're a bit tedious but work (the standard animation process for the drawer is utterly sluggish, compared to dragging down with your finger):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stihiya.notification.drawer&hl=en
There's a stack of these apps, from what I've briefly seen. I don't know how I chose this one. It's only rated 3 stars but works perfectly on my z3 compact.
I use it in combination with:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dynamicg.homebuttonlauncher&hl=en_GB
What this 2nd app does is get triggered when you long press the home key. It then pops up a list/shortlist of apps (that you choose), like a quick pick list.
I've added the notification drawer app to the list.
You can just have a shortcut for the notification drawer app on your home screen though too. I think that's how it's designed. That's its stated behaviour on its page on Google Play.
Hope this helps

hi Guys , I had the same trouble and it was diving me CRAZY !
I was just about to go and but and new phone as there were no answers available .
So i thought , Isopropyl aclohol and give the thing a really good clean .
I turned the phone off , removed the side covers , Memory card and sim .
cleaned everything with the aclohol on cloth .
poured a few drops of alcohol on an old clean toothbrush used for cleaning fine things , and brushed around the mini USB fitting connections . softly brushed the speaker holes .
Completely wiped the screen half a dozen times .
NOT SURE WHICH PART ACTUALLY FIXED IT , BUT ITS COMPLETLY FIXED .
hope this works for you guys , as this was driving ME crazy too, and my phone was only 5 months old
Goodluck
I've had this annoying fault on another phone and I just wanted to share on here that I picked up on a comment about keyboards and have installed the Google keyboard and so far it seems to have worked thank God so I just thought I'd let you know.
