Sigh...
First the microphone problem, now this. Is the Z3c really such a crappy piece of hardware? Having the same issue now, can not drag the menu down, back and home buttons still work fine. In lockscreen the dragging down of the menu is not an issue. Can hardly imagine this is a hardware issue. In test mode settings > about phone > diagnostics, the touchscreen works correctly.
After research the issue it looks like this has been an issue for some time with Sony touch screens not just with this update but after previous updates also.

The initial touch screen test (settings/about phone/diagnostics/test) is not a good test as it rounds up to match your finger tip, try the screen test from *#*#7378423#*#* (entered into the dialler, without pressing dial).
This is my result from the test:
Only issue is it dosnt seam to cover the button area that isn't working, I expect it would look similar to the top, would be interested to see if other people’s results look the same (hold power button to take a screen shot).
After further research is looks like it could be a faulty digitzer, odd how so many cases have been caused after updating makes me think that it may be a hardware fault caused by the high temperatures reached during the ‘updating process’, my phone could fried an egg when it updated!
Any thoughts / comments Sony?
Mine does the same, still weird that in lock mode the touchscreen works properly
That is weird, the speaker icon, pad lock and camera button all work on the lock screen must be software then?
It's weird indeed. Me thinks that the phone treats the digitizer in a different way (lower resolution? to save power perhaps) in lock mode then in "normal" mode. As hardware engineer myself, I can imagine that that could be the case.
as a temporary fix, you should recommend everyone to download an app on google play known as back button which has the back icon in grey colour, once you download it, not only does it solve your problem but it proves sony updates are trash and hardware has gone to the dogs(faulty earphone jacks-multiple online complains have been read). I have solved my problem thanks to google not buying sony ever again(this was my third sony handset. Had such high hopes but i was let down immensely, (many people will be fired for this, and stock value will drop very soon fingers crossed).
Im having the same problem, back, home n tab buttons not working anymore after updating to 6.0.1 SONY please fix ASAP to the next update ya. Im using assertive touch downloaded frm playstore while waiting another update hope it will fix soon.
Mine has the same problem after updates. I tested the the touch screen using *#*#7378423#*#*, the screen seems to loose couple lines on top and couple line on bottom. It did not respond on these top and bottom areas.
But, when I did the reset, and I chose the Country setting, chosing wifi etc. The bottom touch area responds when I touched the navigations buttons. Sony said these problems are because of the faulty screen, but why it responds to my touch on the bottom area everytime I reset. Then after I had done all the settings the bottom area did not do anything when I touched it.
I think the some how the update won't count the top and the bottom as touch screen anymore. After I go back to Kitkat it has same problems. This happens to many Z3 compact now as I see, mine is out of warranty so I don't want to pay to get the fix because of the uncleared problems. Anyone has a better solution for this. Pls advise
